Preparation of network code requirements is well underway
Fingrid’s customer organisations are working to implement the requirements of the EU network code on electricity emergency and restoration. The 24-hour operability requirement and automatic under-frequency load shedding system must be implemented by December 2022.

Fuel cells secure critical functions in substations
Fingrid is working with Leppäkosken Sähkö to test a fuel cell solution that can charge the substation’s batteries, thereby safeguarding its critical functions in the event of a disturbance. Fuel cells generate energy from a mixture of water and methanol.

Ritva Hirvonen named Professor
The President of the Republic of Finland bestowed the title of Professor on Ritva Hirvonen, Fingrid’s Planning Manager, on 19 December 2019. The honorary title of Professor is awarded by the state in recognition of talented practitioners of the sciences and arts.

The Network Code for Emergency and Restoration
The Network Code for Emergency and Restoration (NC ER) specifies the common requirements for handling emergency, blackout and restoration states in the power system. NC ER harmonises the operation of power systems throughout the EU and with Third Countries.

What do customers expect from Fingrid?
“Fingrid collects customer feedback via several channels. A good meter and trend indicator is the customer feedback survey conducted every year; respondents comprise around 200 customers. Continuous feedback recorded in the customer information system is collected from routine customer encounters,” says Jussi Jyrinsalo, Fingrid’s Senior Vice President responsible for customer relationships.
